Introduction

We invite the submission of extended versions of selected papers presented at the 68th ISTAM conference held at the National Institute of Technology Warangal from 7th to 9th December 2023. Participants of the conference are encouraged to contribute to this special issue.

About ISTAM: The Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ISTAM), established in 1955, serves as a common platform for scientists, technologists, and engineers to share and discuss current research aimed at finding solutions for emerging problems and improving living conditions. The ISTAM conference is hosted by renowned institutions and research establishments across India (visit https://istam.iitkgp.ac.in/#!/pages/venues for more information).

Focus of the Special Issue: The Guest Editors invite original and high-quality contributions that enhance our understanding of the interaction between heat transfer processes and fluid dynamics in engineering problem-solving. We particularly welcome research papers that employ numerical methods, including deep learning techniques, for addressing fluid-structure interaction, micro-bio fluidics, laminar and turbulent flow, heat transfer, and advection/diffusion problems. Please note that papers applying existing numerical and deep learning methods to engineering problems that are not considered at the forefront of research by the Guest Editors will not be considered for review.

Topics of Interest:

We encourage submissions covering a wide range of topics related to new numerical and deep learning methods for solving heat and fluid flow problems, including but not limited to:

  • Aerodynamics and Propulsion
  • Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography
  • Biofluid Dynamics
  • Boundary Layer and Compressible Flows
  • Electrohydrodynamics and Magnetohydrodynamics
  • Geophysics and Astrophysics
  • Heat and Mass Transfer
  • Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow in Porous Media
  • Low-Reynolds Number Flow
  • Multiphase Flow
  • Non-Newtonian Fluid Flow
  • Stability of Fluid Flow
  • Heat and Fluid Flow in Biomedical Engineering

We look forward to receiving your contributions and appreciate your support in making this special issue a success. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Guest Editors.
