One of the most important outcomes of Rio+20 in June 2012 was to launch a process to formulate Sustainable Development Goals. In 2015, the UN General Assembly instituted the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These SDGs, extensions of the UN Millennium Development Goals, include 17 goals and 169 targets to “end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all”. The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere.

PSU Research Review: An International Interdisciplinary Journal is announcing a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) corner to motivate research on the SDGs. What is going on in industry, academia, government and nongovernmental agencies related to the planning, implementation and measurement of the SDGs? The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) corner aims to provide insight into existing research, practice and outcomes that could clarify and promote the state of the literature on the following areas:

  • ESG for sustainability
  • Carbon pricing for reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Clean energy and energy efficiency
  • Climate change mitigation
  • Financial Institutions and sustainable development
  • Pollution taxes and environmental protection
  • Gender Equality
  • Promoting sustainable banking practices and managing climate risks
  • Sustainable Production & Consumption (SCP)

The SDG corner has a remit as broad as the SDGs themselves, and contributions are welcome from scientists, academics, policymakers, practitioners, NGOs and researchers working in fields related to any of the seventeen goals including: High quality qualitative or quantitative research, Case studies, with theoretical or managerial implications.
