International Journal of Event and Festival Management

The International Journal of Event and Festival Management (IJEFM) is seeking a new Co-Editor, to work as part of a team of two Co-Editors.

About the Journal

The International Journal of Event and Festival Management (IJEFM) is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal that covers events management issues ranging in scope from small festivals, business and special events to mega events such as the Olympics. Articles are sourced from all disciplinary perspectives and a multi-disciplinary research approach is encouraged.

The journal publishes 29 articles per year, across four issues. 

 

Responsibilities 

The Co-Editors will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:

  • Deliver issues of the journal on time, according to a set schedule, and ensure that the requisite number of papers (29) is published in each volume.  

  • Manage the online review process by making final decisions on the papers, advising on the progress of papers as and when necessary and ensuring that the review process and decisions have been made in a timely and professional manner through the ScholarOne Manuscripts system (NB the successful candidate will be provided with full training and support in the use of ScholarOne).  

  • Abide by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Guidelines for journal Editors, ensuring that any author queries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.  

  • Develop the journal, striving to increase the number of quality submissions and citations by discussing and agreeing a strategy with the journal Commissioning Editor.  

  • Ensure that a steady pipeline of special issues is maintained for publication in the journal.  

  • Engage and maintain regular communications with the Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) members, recruiting to this team where necessary.  

  • Promoting the journal at conferences and through your own networks, and by encouraging and inviting relevant manuscript submissions  

  • Contributing in any other ways to the journal’s further development.  

The Editors will be supported by an Editorial Assistant. 

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be expected to satisfy the following criteria:  

  • Hold a PhD in an appropriate discipline  

  • Have prior experience of working on an international research journal, preferably in an Editorial role or as a Regional Editor, Associate Editor or Guest Editor (or similar)  

  • Have published in international peer-reviewed research journals  

  • Be able to provide impartial judgement on other researchers’ work  

  • Be fluent in English with good writing ability.  

 

Term of service

The successful candidate is expected to serve in the role of Co-Editor for an initial 1-2 year-period. The role will become available on the 1st of January 2024.

The role includes an honorarium.
