Project management is an ever-growing area of interest with academic coverage constantly on the increase. However, current literature in this area lacks specific focus on the implementation of project management within a business context. International Journal of Managing Projects in Business responds to a particular reader need through its unique focus.
The journal covers all aspects of project management theory and practice, specifically relating to programs and programs of projects. It provides a much-needed resource for everyone involved in project management, adding to contemporary debate on current research and developments.
A key feature of the journal is its continued focus on the changing boundaries of the PM discipline. Central to this is the journal’s philosophical foundation that project management is mainly about how people organise themselves to deliver benefits and value through projects and programs of projects.
"The journal is unique as it publishes papers that challenge the status quo in project management. It has established itself as the journal where theory meets practice. Papers have solid theoretical underpinnings, but are able to engage the practitioner as results and findings are operationalized to practice. There have been several special issues that have challenged conventional project management thinking and theory has been developed from situated practice. A key strength of the journal centers on its ability to provide readers with a nexus between theory and practice. Building such a bridge is not easy, but the vision and leadership of the Editor has enabled this to happen. For students, academics and practitioners of project management the papers published in this journal provide the knowledge needed to successfully lead, deliver and manage projects now and in the future."
