Aims and Scope

QAE publishes original empirical or theoretical articles on Quality Assurance issues, including dimensions and indicators of Quality and Quality Improvement, as applicable to education at all levels, including pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher and professional education. Periodically, QAE also publishes systematic reviews, research syntheses and assessment policy articles on topics of current significance. As an international journal, QAE seeks submissions on topics that have global relevance.

Article submissions could address “quality” issues pertinent to one or more of these areas integral to QAE's mission

  • organizational or program development, change and improvement
  • educational testing or assessment programs
  • evaluation of educational innovations, programs and projects
  • school efficiency assessments
  • standards, reforms, accountability, accreditation, and audits in education
  • tools, criteria and methods for examining or assuring quality

About the Co-Editors

John Dalrymple

John Dalrymple holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Stirling and a PhD from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. In 1997, John was invited to Australia to take up the position of Founding Director of the Centre for Management Quality Research and Professor of Quality Management at RMIT University. He is currently Professor in the Faculty of Business and Enterprise at Swinburne University of Technology.

John’s research interests include:

  • Quality, performance measurement and improvement
  • Quality and academic governance in higher education

    Madhabi Chatterji

    Madhabi Chatterji is Professor of Measurement, Evaluation, and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she founded and directs the Assessment and Evaluation Research Initiative (AERI, www.tc.edu/aeri). She received her Ph.D. from the University of South Florida.

    Madhabi’s research and teaching interests lie broadly in assessment-evaluation methodology, evidence standards and the evidence debate, and assessment policy issues in K-12 education, health and psychology. Specific interests include diagnostic classroom assessment models, educational equity and standards-based reforms in education. 

    Madhabi was named a Fulbright Research Scholar (2008) and received an Outstanding Publication Award from the American Educational Research Association (2004) and a Distinguished Paper Award from the Florida Educational Research Association (1993) for her research.
