Introducing JKM's new Editor-in-Chief

The publishing team of the Journal of Knowledge Management is pleased to introduce the journal's new Editor-in-Chief, Professor Elias Carayannis, who succeeds founding editor, Rory Chase, after 20 years of excellent work.

Elias G. Carayannis is full professor of science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as co-founder and co-director of the Global and Entrepreneurial Finance Research Institute (GEFRI) and director of research on science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, European Union Research Center, (EURC) at the School of Business of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Carayannis' teaching and research activities focus on the areas of strategic government-university-industry R&D partnerships, technology road-mapping, technology transfer and commercialization, international science and technology policy, technological entrepreneurship and regional economic development.

Commenting on his vision for the journal, Prof. Carayannis says:

"Knowledge is increasingly being and becoming the essential ingredient of growth and success in both the context of the economy and society as well as an antecedent and corollary of growth theories, policies, practices and politics at the macro, meso and micro levels. Human and intellectual capital formation, circulation, sharing, absorption and use modalities and patterns are increasingly becoming critical enablers, drivers and makers of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.

The Journal of Knowledge Management will aim to serve as an intellectual commons and forum for scholarly research, policy discourse and practice development of new insights and processes of discovery, exploration and exploitation and well as a trigger, catalyst and accelerator of " happy accidents" of strategic knowledge serendipity."

Theoretical conceptualizations, empirical validations and policy syntheses of currency, relevance and import on and about the art and science of Knowledge Management are welcome and encouraged along with proposals for special issues and expressions of interest in joining the team as an advisory board member or reviewer.

To submit a paper, please see the journal's author guidelines at

Please join me in welcoming Prof. Carayannis to his new role as JKM enters this exciting new era and looks to cement its position as one of the leading journals in its field.
