Aims and scope

Review of Economics and Political Science (REPS) is a scholarly journal which publishes original and impactful articles in the fields of economics, political science and statistics. REPS publishes 6 issues per annum and is owned by the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University.

It covers the fields of economics, political science and statistics in general with a particular focus on 

•    Economic growth/development, 
•    economic and political resilience to climate change, 
•    economic and political economic innovation, 
•    fiscal policies, 
•    international finance, 
•    trade & labour economics, 
•    educational and health economics, 
•    behavioural economics, 
•    public administration and policy, 
•    comparative politics and civil society, 
•    international law, constitution and legal politics, 
•    political thought/theory and political praxis. 


Manuscripts that use quantitative, statistical and social science computing models are given special emphasis.  The journal is committed to the publication of research in economic and political sciences that are aligned to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.


Open access 


Review of Economics and Political Science is owned by Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS), Cairo University and is published by Emerald Publishing on FEPS behalf. REPS is a fully open access journal, which means all articles are published under the gold open access route, using a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 user licence. Open access journals are supported through the payment of an article processing charge (APC). APCs are typically paid for by the author’s funder or institution. These are currently £625 for 2024. From 2025, the APC will be £1250.

Transparency statement for Review of Economics and Political Science 


1.    Journal Ownership: Review of Economics and Political Science is published by Emerald Publishing on behalf of the Cairo University (Egypt) (the owner). 
2.    Governing Body: The editorial team is appointed and managed by the Cairo University (Egypt). The journal is governed by the editorial team in collaboration with Emerald Publishing. 
3.    Peer Review Process: The journal operates a double blind peer review model. All articles undergo an initial assessment by the journal editor. If they are considered suitable for consideration, articles will then be a reviewed by a minimum of two external reviewers to assess suitability for publication. Final responsibility for editorial decisions rests with the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

5.    Copyright: All articles in the journal are published Open Access under a Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY-4.0). This allows authors to retain copyright of their work whilst others can share, use and build upon this work created as long as appropriate attribution is given.

In the event of any allegation of research or publication misconduct the publisher and editor will adhere to COPE guidelines in dealing with such allegations.  
8.    Conflicts of interest: Authors are asked to declare any financial or ethical conflicts of interest upon submitting their work to the journal. Difficult cases will be referred to the Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE) for advice. 
9.    Frequency: The journal currently publishes 6 issues per annum 
10.    Access: All journal articles are published Open Access on EmeraldInsight.com - http://www.emeraldinsight.com/loi/reps under a CCBY 4.0 licence (please see section 5).  
11.    Revenue sources: This is a fully open access journal, which means all articles are published under the gold open access route. Open access journals are supported through the payment of an article processing charge (APC). APCs are typically paid for by the author’s funder or institution.
12.    Advertising: The journal does not accept direct advertising  
13.    Archiving: Emerald provides perpetual access for all e-journal content by working with digital preservation schemes Portico, LOCKSS and CLOCKSS.  
14.    Direct marketing: On occasion the journal will use direct marketing activities (primarily email campaigns) to raise awareness of the journal and to invite authors to submit articles.   Marketing activities are conducted by the Cairo University (Egypt) unless otherwise agreed with Emerald.
