Journal of Criminological Research, Policy and Practice


The Editors of the Journal of Criminological Research, Policy and Practice (JCRPP) are pleased to announce a Call for Papers.

About JCRPP


JCRPP aims to capture all aspects of contact with criminal & community justice agencies as well as with those allied to them.  This includes contact with the police, prosecutors, courts and sentencing through to detainment and release. The journal considers how forensic settings (e.g. prisons, forensic psychiatric units) engage with the community and non criminal justice agencies.

Each issue includes peer-reviewed papers covering the following areas :

·         Initial and preventative contact

·         Containment (involving police, courts and custody)

·         Rehabilitation

·         Forensic mental health

·         Through-care, resettlement and community based work.


The journal publishes research from a variety of perspectives including the offender(s), the victim(s), communities and the professionals involved.

Current commissioning topics include (but are not limited to):

 ·         Treatments interventions with offenders

 ·         Understanding violence within secure and community forensic populations

 ·        The application of forensic mental health to understanding offending

 ·         Working with victims

 ·         Working with staff engaged in forensic practice e.g. training, support.


Brief Research Reports


As well as research papers, JCRPP also welcomes brief research reports. These must not exceed 3,000 words in total, including references (up to 12 allowed) and up to one table. This word limit excludes the abstract. These papers should otherwise follow the same structure as standard research papers. If you are intending your work to be considered as a brief report please select this option from the drop down box when making your submission.
