Fraud and Fraud Prevention: International Perspectives

Special issue call for papers from Journal of Criminological Research, Policy and Practice

A special issue of Journal of Criminological Research, Policy and Practice

Guest Editor:

Professor Tim Prenzler, University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia

Fraud is one of the largest areas of increasing crime internationally, going against the downward trend in many areas of crime in the last 30 years. It is a major issue of policy concern for governments, and a major topic of academic research.

This special issue will provide a unique global perspective on current developments in the field, focusing on studies of protective factors and successful interventions. Much of the work in this area is descriptive of the problem, with insufficient attention to mitigation of victimisation and prevention of offending.

The main aim is to advance understanding of the nature of the fraud problem, causal factors, and knowledge about interventions that have been shown to reduce victimisation.

We welcome submissions to this special issue. Topics covered include (but are not limited to):

·         Cybercrime

·         New fraud methods

·         Diagnostics

·         Preventive interventions

·         Policing

·         Self-protection

·         Corporate security
