Transformational and Charismatic Leadership: The Road Ahead, 10th Anniversary edition

Transformational and Charismatic Leadership: The Road Ahead, 10th Anniversary edition.

Editors:

Prof. Bruce J. Avolio, University of Washington, USA
Prof. Francis J. Yammarino, State University of New York at Binghamton, USA

Synopsis:

This is the 10th anniversary edition of "Transformational and Charismatic Leadership: The Road Ahead."  This new compendium seeks to update the theoretical and empirical work and professional practice issues associated with transformational and charismatic leadership that have transpired over the past decade.

Leaving the original "classic" chapters intact, authors from the original volume provide an addendum to their original chapters updating what has occurred in their work realm over the last 10 years and highlighting what still needs to be done.

The author-teams review past work and offer new research ideas, insights, and directions for future work. These contributions take stock of the forecasts (predictions and projections) made in the original volume on future trends in leadership research and practice, of the issues raised about what is missing from this leadership realm, and provide perspectives on new directions for theory, research and practice in this field. This book will re-set the stage for the next decade of theory and research in transformational and charismatic leadership.

Reviews of the first edition (Amazon)

"This is an interesting collection of essays. I never realized just how much leadership research has advanced. It seems like Avolio and Yammarino's associates are really pushing the frontiers of leadership knowledge forward. I am really pleased that some real scientific work is being done, because frankly, I am getting sick of reading some of the popular works, which come a dime a dozen. Buy this book-you will not regret it."

"Needed this book for a class. Thought it would be dry and boring, but the book is well written and proved to be a good read. Found it amazing at the number of diverse ideas to describe leadership. Learned that "followership" is an important component of the leadership model. I recommend this book for current and would be leaders".

"I bought this book for a class. I consider that is a good resource to observe the transformation and charismatic leadership through the history".

"This book is quite informative and comperehensive. The essays are high-quality and present a wide variety of ideas on transformational leadership, its bases, and behavioral manifestations. I've actually read some of the academic articles on transformational leadership, which are somewhat confusing and inconsistent; I find this book to be the proper mixture of theories and approaches. I recommend it!"
