Introduction and Aims

The rapid advancements in technology and the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) have significantly impacted various industries, including accounting and finance. These technological innovations have brought about significant changes in how financial reporting and accounting practices are conducted. As we delve deeper into the digital era, it becomes crucial to explore the synergies between technology, AI, and accounting & finance and their implications for financial reporting and decision-making processes.

This special issue will showcase cutting-edge research, critical insights, and practical implications for financial professionals, researchers, and policymakers.

The selected research papers from The International Conference on Business and Technology (ICBT-CAMBRIDGE’2024), scheduled to take place on April 19-20, 2024 at Murray Edwards College, the University of Cambridge, UK will have the opportunity to be evaluated and published in this special issue.

This SI focus on how advancements in technology and AI are influencing accounting and financial practices, and how these changes impact financial reporting, auditing, risk management, and other related areas.

A discussion is underway among academic scholars and professionals in the accounting and finance field regarding the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on the various processes within these professions. The future of these crucial disciplines for both companies and the public sector is being closely examined. This SI aims to reignite this debate and serve as a platform for exchanging ideas, as well as advancing theories and practices that contribute to the growth of accounting and finance in the digital age. Given the rapid advancements in technology, it has become imperative to develop these professions in line with these changes. Additionally, this edition delves into the topics of governance and equality balance within the context of technological developments.
