About

Innovation lies at the heart of organizational success in an ever-evolving business landscape. As businesses face increasing pressure to remain competitive and adapt to changing market dynamics, effective management controls play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of innovation as well as driving creative enterprises and innovation processes. This special issue aims to explore the diverse dimensions of management control used across different innovation contexts. We invite authors to submit papers that open up new areas around the design and use of management controls for innovation drawing on insights from both theory and practice.

To promote a wider understanding, this special issue aims to incorporate papers from diverse perspectives and contexts. Theoretical contributions could be grounded in management, leadership, organizational behavior, marketing, strategy, entrepreneurship, international business, information systems, knowledge management and human resource management theories, all of which have implications for the development and use of management controls for innovation. Additionally, innovation occurs in various contexts, from startups to multinational corporations, and across national boundaries and often between organizations from different industries. We also welcome papers that delve into the nuances of both the successful and unsuccessful use of management control for innovation.
