Call for Papers: Post-pandemic digitization and innovation of the food and drink industry

British Food Journal

How does the food and drink industry need to evolve to navigate operating in a post-pandemic world?
How can the industry best manage innovation and digital transformation at this time?
What are the longer-term implications and opportunities?

To help address these questions and more, we are delighted to jointly present calls for papers for two complementary, ‘companion’ special issues on digitization and innovation focussing on how food and beverage companies and their management strategies need to evolve and adapt to survive in the post-pandemic era.

The special issue for the British Food Journal (BFJ) focuses on the challenges, drivers and opportunities for the food and beverage industry in the post-pandemic era – with a particular focus on digitization and innovation.

BFJ is key reading for academics, researchers and students in all social science/management/public health disciplines who are interested in food, as well as nutritionists and dietitians, food and agricultural companies who manufacture, market or supply food, food research institutes, and managers and professionals who work in the food industry.

The special issue for the European Journal of Innovation Management (EJIM) focuses on how food and beverage companies need to manage innovation and digital transformation going forwards, drawing on experiences and lessons learnt throughout the recent pandemic to navigate current and future uncertain scenarios.

EJIM has an interdisciplinary audience, addressing all aspects of innovation management but is of particular interest to those studying or working in the business and management disciplines. It is also relevant to those engaged in service industries, public sector organizations, and social and community enterprises (social innovation).

These two special issues are being jointly promoted as they aim to take complementary approaches to the topic – one considering the challenges and opportunities for the food and beverage industry and the other considering the specific implications for management innovation for companies operating within the industry.
