20th June 2018

Bingley, United Kingdom, 20 June 2018 – Emerald Publishing is proud to again celebrate the winners of the Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards (ODRAs).

As in previous years, Emerald has collaborated with the EFMD – an international network association with almost 900 member organizations, across 88 countries from academia, business, public sector and consultancy - to celebrate research excellence across the following ten subject areas: operations and production management; logistics and supply chain management; educational leadership and strategy; management and governance; human resource management; leadership and organization development; healthcare management; tourism and hospitality management; marketing; and finance.

Editors and other senior journal stakeholders were this year’s judges, choosing the winning papers based on the significance/implications for theory and practice; originality and innovation; appropriateness and application of methodology; and the quality of the data/research.

This year, over 200 entries were received from authors based all around the world.  Ten winning papers from authors1 at universities in Belgium, France, India, Italy, New Zealand; United Kingdom; and the United States of America have each won €1,000.

A further 28 papers written by authors from Australia; Brazil; Canada; China; Denmark; Finland; Germany; Hungary; India; Ireland; Italy; Spain; United Kingdom; United States of America; and Portugal have been awarded highly commended status.

Simon Linacre, ‎Head of Business, Management and Economics Journals at Emerald, said: “Once again, the quality of submissions was extremely high. In particular, it was refreshing to see that real world impact was such a strong theme among the submissions, supporting Emerald’s support for meaningful, real world impact in research.

“We are delighted to have attracted such great work by authors from all over the world, and be able to reward research excellence, in association with the EFMD. We recognize the hard work each author contributes to their research papers and would like to thank everyone for submitting and congratulate this year’s winners.”

Eric Cornuel, Director General & CEO of EFMD, added: “Together with Emerald, we are proud to support doctoral graduates in their efforts to make a difference in society and have their contribution to knowledge appreciated by an international audience. There was an impressive response to the competition, with twice as many submissions compared to last year.”

“EFMD is delighted to see that the relevant and impactful research is being recognized and would like to warmly congratulate to all the winners as well as the authors of the highly commended research papers for their awards."
