Aims and scope

Advances in Gender Research (AGR) is a leading international series that publishes original, high-quality scholarship on gender from diverse feminist perspectives. The series provides a platform for theoretical, empirical, and methodological work that advances our understanding of gender as a social, cultural, and political construct. It furthers the understanding of gender and promotes the application of this understanding to the solution of social problems and the achievement of equality locally and globally.

AGR is committed to intersectional and interdisciplinary approaches that explore how gender interacts with other axes of identity and power, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, ability, and nationality. The series engages with contemporary debates, offering critical insights into structures of inequality, systems of oppression, and modes of resistance.

Addressing both historical and emerging issues, AGR highlights research that examines gender in a variety of social contexts, including institutions, policy, representation, activism, and everyday life. The series welcomes contributions that explore gender at the individual, collective, and structural levels, from lived experiences to institutional frameworks, from cultural narratives to global policies.

With an emphasis on both theoretical innovation and practical application, AGR fosters dialogue among scholars, practitioners, and activists. The series provides a venue for scholars, researchers and practitioners at all stages of their careers and from all parts of the globe to explore gender-related issues from feminist perspectives. By amplifying diverse voices and perspectives, the series seeks to advance gender equity, challenge dominant paradigms, and contribute to social transformation on a global scale.
