Introduction
Structural forensic engineering is a specialised field that involves investigating and analysing structures that have failed or are showing signs of distress. This discipline aims to determine the causes of structural failures and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences. Digital Forensic Structural Engineering represents a significant advancement in the field of forensic engineering, combining traditional practices with modern digital technologies to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scope of forensic investigations. By addressing key societal challenges and contributing to sustainable development goals, this discipline plays a crucial role in enhancing the safety, resilience, and sustainability of our built environment
The aim of a special issue on Digital Forensic Civil and Structural engineering is to provide a dedicated platform for the dissemination of cutting-edge research, technological advancements, and case studies in the field. This special issue seeks to explore the integration of digital tools, advanced methods, and forensic techniques for investigating, diagnosing, and solving complex issues related to structural failures, damages, and performance anomalies.
The Special issue aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructures) SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
