JPHMG Upcoming Special Issue

Introduction

The Special Issue aims to provide a dynamic overview of the latest developments and innovations in the area of physical modelling in geotechnics, forming the first part of the Proceedings of the International Conference on Physical Modelling in Geotechnics (ICPMG), that will be held in Zurich, Switzerland, in June of 2026. Instead of selecting papers after the Conference, the Special Issue is initiated in advance, aiming to attract the best papers in the field. Through this call for papers, we invite colleagues to submit their best work in the subject area. After going through a rigorous review process, the papers that will be accepted for publication in the Special Issue will be also allocated an increased time for presentation in ICPMG 2026, thus being in the spotlight. In this way, the Special Issue will form the 1st Volume of the Proceedings of ICPMG 2026. The special issues is open to academics, engineers, researchers, technicians and students, calling for the latest developments in modelling techniques, technologies, similitude laws, and all other aspects of physical modelling in geotechnics.

The Special issue aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructures)  SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
