Introduction

Vietnam stands at a crossroads of tradition and modernity, where global influences intersect with deep-rooted cultural practices, shaping the nation’s social, economic, and cultural landscapes. This special issue, “Contemporary Vietnam: Identity, Mobility, and Representation,” aims to bring together a diverse collection of articles that explore the multifaceted dynamics of Vietnamese society in the context of globalization, modernization, and cultural preservation. This special issue will address critical themes, including cultural identity, education, migration, minority experiences, heritage, and media representations, and offer nuanced insights into how Vietnamese individuals and communities navigate these transformative forces. Finally, the special issue will trace the interplay of local and global influences, revealing both the challenges and opportunities that define contemporary Vietnam.
