Introduction

The increasing complexity of modern engineering structures, the application of advanced materials, and the implementation of innovative manufacturing technologies have necessitated more sophisticated approaches to structural integrity assessment, particularly regarding large-scale systems. Given these challenges, alongside the high costs of laboratory testing, the tasks of structural analysis and reliability assessment have become significantly more complex requiring non-standard approaches.

This Special Issue focuses on new trends and concerning innovations and recent trends in the field, emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches to structural integrity, reliability, risk analysis, safety and structural analysis in overall. Studies investigating environmental impacts and material characterization are highly encouraged. Furthermore, submissions exploring novel methodologies involving Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are particularly welcome. Comprehensive case studies will also be considered. A non-exhaustive list of topics of interest is provided below.

List of Topic Areas

  • Recent trends in Structural integrity assessment of engineering structures
  • Innovation in structural analysis
  • Methods for reliability and probabilistic safety assessment
  • Machine learning and AI approach to all aforementioned
  • Environmental effect in structural integrity and material characterisation
  • Mechanical characterisation of new engineering materials
  • Probabilistic methods (in general) for structural integrity assessment or structural analysis
  • Finite Element Method approach to Structural integrity or structural analysis
