Aims and scope

The 4D Printing is the first of its kind journal and aims to make a significant impact on the 4D additive manufacturing field. It focuses on the principles and advances of 4D materials and additive manufacturing and provides valuable insights and knowledge for researchers. The journal covers the following key topics:

  • Advanced additive manufacturing techniques (4D printing, bioprinting, multi-material printing, new processes, large scale manufacturing, hybrid manufacturing, closed-loop 3D/4D printing).
  • 4D printing of soft robotics, sensors, electronics, energy harvesters, and self-healing devices.
  • Advanced simulation for additive manufacturing.
  • New multi-functional materials and biomaterials for 4D printing.
  • Design for 4D printing using artificial intelligence and topological optimisation.
  • Characterisation of advanced properties for 4D printing (morphing, mechanical, fatigue, aging, etc).
  • Industrialization and applications enabled by 4D printing (health, mechanical, aerospace, automotive, sport, civil, etc)
