As we grow this journal, the editors are looking for special issue proposals to support the output of high-quality impactful research in this area. Special issues could be on a specific topic or could be connected to conferences or events which may produce research in this field.
A special issue topic would need to meet the aims and scopes of the AIIE journal and submissions would need to be submitted in line with the author guidelines which can be found here: https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/journal/aiie
To be eligible to guest edit a special issue, you must hold a teaching or research position at an academic institution in a subject area relevant to AIIE. Additionally, you should have a strong publication record, including at least 5 peer-reviewed articles that align with the journal’s scope and themes.
An essential aspect of the Guest Editor role is the ability to commission content for your special issue. When preparing your proposal, please consider whether you have a strong enough network to actively source and invite contributions from relevant academics. As this is an open access journal, authors will need to either be covered by an open access publishing agreement with Emerald or pay an Article Processing Charge (APC). It’s therefore important to consider whether your network includes contributors who are likely to have access to such funding or institutional agreements.
If you would like to propose a special issue for this journal, please contact Publishing Development Editor, Gabi Hart, at [email protected]. Please email an expression of interest by 15th May to be considered for the 2026 special issue program.
