British Food Journal

British Food Journal is inviting applications to join our editorial team as an Associate Editor.

This role involves responsibility for the management of a number of articles through the peer review process as one of a team of Editors.

It links all sectors of this dynamic industry, keeping abreast of emerging trends, topical and controversial issues and informing and stimulating debate.

About the Role

As an Associate Editor, you will play a vital role in helping to shape the journal’s future. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing double-anonymous peer review of assigned manuscripts using the journal’s online submission system (ScholarOne), by recommending final decisions on papers, advising on the progress of papers as and when necessary and ensuring that the review process and decisions have been made in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supporting authors and reviewers throughout the editorial processes.
  • Promoting the journal.
  • Abide by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Guidelines for journal Editors, ensuring that any author queries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.

Who should apply:

We welcome applications from individuals who:

  • Hold a PhD or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field
  • Have prior experience of the management of the peer review process in an associate editor or guest editor capacity
  • Have published in international peer-reviewed journals so understand the publication process
  • Can provide fair, constructive feedback to authors
  • Are fluent in English and comfortable working with ScholarOne (training and guidance provided)

Term of Appointment:

The successful candidate is expected to serve in the role of Associate Editor for an initial 2 year-period.
