OBITUARY - Professor Ronald McCaffer, FREng

We regret to announce the passing away of Professor Ronald McCaffer Founding Editor of our journal, Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management (ECAM). Professor McCaffer was a doyen of the field of Construction Management and was well known globally for his pioneering work and his book, Modern Construction Management. 

He spent all his academic career at Loughborough University, where he held the positions of Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Dean of Engineering, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Director of Strategic Business Partnerships, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, and Emeritus Professor. He also held visiting professorships at universities around the world. 

In 1994 Professor McCaffer founded ECAM and built it up into one of the most respected academic journals in the field of Construction Engineering and Management. Ron will be sorely missed by the ECAM and Emerald communities, as he was a mentor and friend to many of us. Our deepest condolences go to his family and friends, especially his son, Andrew and his family.
