Emerald Publishing has announced a partnership with the Commonwealth Transfusion Foundation (CTF) to publish its newly formed Journal of Blood Service Economics (JBSE).

The double-blind, peer-reviewed journal will publish research from business, health and public-policy disciplines, to advance knowledge of the U.S. blood and plasma industry to ensure a safe, affordable and sustainable blood supply.

Though primarily focused on the United States blood system, international research papers will be considered that are comparative in construction or clearly impact, either directly or indirectly, the United States blood and plasma industry.

The journal is published Open Access and as such all publishing charges are funded by the CTF so there is no charge to the author.

JBSE’s editorial team include Dr Robert Carden from the CTF as Editor-in-Chief and Dr Judson Edwards from Troy University as Managing Editor.

Dr Robert Carden, commented: “The JBSE was founded to bridge the immense gap between practice and academic research in the study of the business environment of blood service industry, at both the macro and micro level. The new journal will publish and disseminate relevant, high-quality, timely, and impactful research, that I believe will grow into a foundational resource for researchers, professionals, and policy makers, to support the efficiency, affordability, and sustainability of blood products, which are essential to the global healthcare industry.”
