This call invites new reviewers to nominate themselves or others to participate in the peer review process for Journal of Global Operations and Strategic Sourcing (JGOSS), a leading information resource for researchers, industry decision makers, and public sector decision and policy makers.

About the journal

Often the journal of choice for outsourcing industry specialists and researchers, JGOSS provides a central, authoritative and independent forum for the critical evaluation and dissemination of research and development, applications, processes and current practices relating to sourcing strategically for products, services, competences and resources on a global scale and to designing, implementing and managing the resulting global operations.

JGOSS places a strong emphasis on applied research with relevant implications for both knowledge and practice. The journal also aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and opinions on research projects and issues.

Reviewers: the role and benefits

The journal values diverse perspectives from the field and reviewers who provide critical, constructive, and respectful feedback to authors. Reviewers come from a variety of organizations, careers, and backgrounds from around the world.

The reviewers should have knowledge and experience in these nominated or related areas. Reviewers can have academic qualifications, but at the same time experienced are warmly sought and welcomed. The expectation of the reviews is to assist authors in improving their papers, allowing the community to learn and be challenged.

Being a reviewer can improve career prospects by understanding the profession a little more by being able to analyse trends and ideas globally, and by raising their profile internationally amongst the profession’s leaders.

Our vision is to give voice to professionals in the subject area who contribute unique and diverse scholarly perspectives to the field.
JGOSS follows the double-anonymous peer review process, and our reviewers are expected to provide 3-6 reviews per year.

Why review?

Whether this is your first time reviewing or you are a seasoned professional, below are some reasons why you should say yes next time an editor asks you to review:

  • Reviewing establishes you as an expert in your field of research – it’s a great way to enhance your academic or professional reputation.
  • You get the opportunity to read cutting-edge research before it has even been published.
  • Reviewing offers an ideal opportunity to exercise your critical thinking skills in a private arena.
  • You can return the favour – you are very likely a published author which means others have found the time to review your papers, now you can repay the courtesy.
  • Building a relationship with a journal editorial team increases your chances of being invited to join an Editorial Advisory Board. (The reviewer board is reviewed annually, and its membership is conditional to meeting requirements.)
  • Reviewing for an Emerald journal entitles you to free personal access to up 40 Emerald journal articles (excluding backfiles). This access is valid for a 90-day period from when you receive your access notification.
  • You could be recognised for your efforts; each year editors are asked to nominate outstanding reviewers for our Literati Awards.
