Special Issue 'Shaping Digital Ethics Together' from the 2025 ETHICOMP conference

Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society

Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society (JICES) is pleased to announce the forthcoming special issue 'Shaping Digital Ethics Together' in partnership with the 2025 ETHICOMP conference.

This special issue aims to strengthen the visibility of the ETHICOMP community by sharing the achievements, preparatory work, and fresh ideas that emerged from the 2025 conference. The selected papers will bring together extended versions of the presentations during ETHICOMP. They offer a deeper analysis and broader theoretical grounding from the most authoritative voices in the area.

JICES and the ETHICOMP community both serve as hubs for advancing research and public understanding of digital ethics. The 2025 ETHICOMP conference in Lisbon highlighted pressing questions on AI ethics, digital governance, and the social impact of emerging technologies—areas now central to global policy debates. Its five core themes—Ethics, Society, Education, Systems, and Security—reflect current research frontiers in responsible AI, digital literacy, and cybersecurity. The high participation rate and diversity of submissions confirm a growing demand for ethical reflection accompanying technological progress. This special issue will translate these reflections into a coherent collection of peer-reviewed studies, ensuring that ETHICOMP’s ongoing dialogue contributes to the evolving literature on AI ethics, social values, and responsible digital transformation.

Invited authors are able to submit their papers from 15th November 2025 until 15th March 2026.
