Call for the Journal of Leadership Education Editorial Advisory Board Position

Journal of Leadership Education

The Journal of Leadership Education is pleased to announce that we are accepting nominations (including self-nominations) for a Board Member position on the Journal of Leadership Education (JOLE) Editorial Advisory Board (EAB). The call will remain open until May 8, 2026, in an effort to garner the interest of qualified candidates.

The term of service is two years, beginning in July 2026.

Responsibilities of EAB members

· Set and ensure compliance with policies for the operation of JOLE

· Maintain high standards of rigor of scholarship for the publication of JOLE

· Identify innovation in the field of leadership education and determine opportunities to include coverage of that work in JOLE

· Explore, as appropriate, potential ways to grow the reach and impact of JOLE

· Engage in activities that further the mission and reach of JOLE

· In collaboration with and at the request of the Editor, adjudicate complex issues related to article submission, dispensation, response, and/or publication

· In collaboration with the Editor, create, maintain, and edit materials related to JOLE administration, including communications, policy documents, etc.

· Encourage colleagues to submit manuscripts to JOLE for publication consideration.

· Under unique circumstances, approve invited manuscripts or supplemental material for the Journal in lieu of full peer review

· Be an active member of the Association of Leadership Educators (ALE)

· Encourage fellow ALE members and members of the at-large field of leadership educators to serve as reviewers for JOLE

· Ensure reviewers are vetted, accepted, oriented, and trained

· Serve as a reviewer, including in editorial/administrative first-line reviews and “on-call” reviews in the event a regular rotation reviewer is unable to complete an assignment

· Approve topics for special issues of JOLE in the event that JOLE is considering a special issue

· Beyond annual fixed costs in the JOLE budget, work collaboratively to determine an annual operating budget request as necessary

· Participate actively in EAB meetings, prepare prior to meetings and after meetings, carry out assignments made

· Represent JOLE at meetings of the ALE board of directors’ meetings when the journal editor is unable to do so

Qualifications

· Membership in the ALE throughout the term of service on the EAB

· Past service as a reviewer for JOLE

· Record of authoring scholarly works, particularly in peer-reviewed journals and/or ALE conference presentations

· Attainment of the academic rank of associate professor (or commensurate) or higher

· Demonstration of knowledge and acceptance of a range of geographically, cultural, and methodological perspectives that ensure rigor and broad value to the scholarship of leadership education
