Professor Abdul Raouf- An Obituary

The research community in the area of Industrial Engineering and Maintenance Engineering and Management received with sorrow the news of the passing away of Professor Abdul Raouf at his home in Lahore, Pakistan.
Dr. Abdul Raouf was a Distinguished National Professor and Professor Emeritus, University of Management and Technology (UMT) Lahore, Pakistan. He consulted for industry and supervised research students. He was a University Professor at UMT for more than a decade and prior to that he was Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) Rector, Pakistan. He spent the years 1984-1994 at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Saudi Arabia where he shaped the Industrial Engineering program and brought the area of maintenance to the forefront. 
He spent the years 1966-1984 at the University of Windsor in Canada, out of this period he was the Chairman of the Industrial Engineering Department for 7 years. His contributions to the profession include more than one hundred articles in journals of repute and 12 books (authored or edited). He was on the editorial board of quite a few professional journals and he is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Quality in Maintenance Engineering.
