Journal of Rehabilitation Methods and Technologies (JRMT) is published by Emerald Publishing, in partnership with the MotusAcademy.

JRMT gratefully acknowledges the support of MotusAcademy, whose ongoing educational initiatives and strategic guidance enrich the journal’s mission.
MotusAcademy is an international association dedicated to reforming the global rehabilitation ecosystem through the power of information and technology. Guided by our motto, “Rehabilitation for All,” we specialise in continuing education for advanced robotics and supporting technologies—ensuring that clinicians, therapists, engineers and allied health professionals stay at the forefront of innovation in rehabilitation.
Our Mission
We exist to bridge the gap between emerging rehabilitation technologies and real-world clinical practice. By providing rigorous, evidence-based training and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration, MotusAcademy empowers practitioners to deliver superior patient care. Our ultimate goal is to accelerate the development, adoption and impact of cutting-edge robotics, functional electrical stimulation, virtual reality, brain–machine interfaces and other assistive technologies across every corner of the rehabilitation community.
Core Programmes & Services
- Panel of Clinical Experts (PACER): A rotating, multidisciplinary group of clinicians, engineers and patient advocates who curate content, advise on best practices and validate educational resources.
- Monthly Webinars: Live, 60-minute sessions featuring leading academics, industry innovators and clinical thought leaders. Topics range from exoskeleton control algorithms and sensor technologies to ethical considerations and regulatory frameworks. All webinars include interactive Q&A, polls and are archived for on-demand viewing.
- Self-Paced Online Courses: Four progressive levels—from foundational concepts to advanced AI integration—comprising concise video lessons, case-study exercises and downloadable resource packs. Learners have up to 12 months to complete each level at their own pace.
- Hands-On Workshops: Two-day intensives hosted at partner rehabilitation centres around the world (APAC, EMEA, Americas). These small-group workshops (maximum 20 participants) cover device assembly, calibration, patient assessment and data interpretation, earning recognised CPD hours.
- Certification Pathway: The “Certified Advanced Rehab Robotics Practitioner” (CARRP) credential combines online coursework, webinar attendance, a written exam and a practical portfolio of case studies. Certification is valid for three years and renewable through continuing professional development.
- Community & Networking: Special Interest Groups (e.g., paediatric robotics, stroke rehabilitation), mentor–mentee pairings, an online member-only forum and research portal. These platforms foster peer exchange, problem-solving and collaborative innovation.
- Events & Conferences: The annual “RehabConnect Global Summit,” regional roadshows and industry hackathons bring together stakeholders from academia, industry and clinical practice to explore the latest breakthroughs and co-create scalable solutions.
