Emerald Publishing has announced the recipients of its High Usage Awards 2026, recognising the global academic institutions with the highest usage of Emerald eJournal content over the past year.
Now in its fifteenth year, the annual High Usage Awards celebrate the strong and enduring relationships between Emerald and institutions around the world, while highlighting the reach and impact of the research published across Emerald’s portfolio.
The awards are based on total eJournal downloads during 2025, excluding EPS but including secondary content usage. Together, the results demonstrate the breadth of Emerald’s global engagement and the vital role institutions play in supporting access to peer reviewed research.

The top 20 organisations worldwide for Emerald eJournal usage span multiple regions, reflecting the truly international nature of scholarly research and discovery.
The top three institutions for 2026 are:
- Zhejiang University, China, with 590,418 downloads
- Ministry of Education and Technical Education, Egypt, with 526,330 downloads
- Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, with 464,280 downloads
Institutions from Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Australia, Malaysia, South Africa, Peru, Hong Kong, the United States, Egypt and China are represented across the top 20, underlining Emerald’s strong partnerships with universities and research bodies worldwide.
