On Sunday 21st July 2024, Emerald Publishing took to the water to raise money for the BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. The BookTrust has been chosen as Emerald’s Charity of the Year for 2024 and so far over £10,000 has been raised for the charity through a series of fundraising activities.

On the day, two teams from Emerald took part in the race. Emerald Express was captained by Emma Tregenza and Emerald’s Dragon Force was led by Simon Cox. Emma and Simon were joined by a host of colleagues from Emerald as they competed alongside other businesses to raise funds for their chosen charities.

Simon Cox, Chief Operation Officer, Emerald Publishing said: “We’re thrilled that Emerald has raised over £10,000 for the BookTrust so far this year. This has been achieved through a variety of fundraising activities, including our Dragon Boat Race event. This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of our many supporters and the hard work of our dedicated colleagues who paddled with such determination. Thank you all for your unwavering support and commitment to such a worthy cause.”

Emma Tregenza, Chief Legal and People Officer, Emerald Publishing said: “What a great day we all had at the Bradford Dragon Boat Festival.  I'm so proud of everyone that took part or helped to organise us - complete novices but we did ourselves proud and finished just outside of the top six! And, even better, we raised a huge amount for the BookTrust who do such incredible work supporting families and readers all over the country. Thanks to everyone for their support.”

If you’d like to support the BookTrust you can donate via our JustGiving page here.
