Emerald Publishing shortlisted for the Independent Publishers Guild Alison Morrison Diversity Award for second year

We are honoured to be shortlisted for the 2022 Independent Publishers Awards, Alison Morrison Diversity Award, for the second year running.

The award recognises efforts being made to make our industry more diverse and inclusive, both internally and through the content that is published.

The Independent Publishers Guild commended us on "always prioritising diversity in its HR practices and research output alike. In 2021 Emerald reinforced its work with a new inter-disciplinary books editor role, and gathered extensive data and feedback on its recruitment and working practices." The judges also liked how diversity is embedded into the culture at Emerald, commenting: "Diversity and inclusivity are driven from the top down at Emerald – they take it very seriously and are implementing the right tools to make a difference."

We were highly commended by the Independent Publishers Guild for the 2021 Alison Morrison Diversity Award and won the 'SME Strategy' category at the Inside Out Mental Health Awards for our efforts to prioritise and bring more awareness to mental health at work and break down stigma.

The winners will be announced at a special gala lunch at the OXO Tower in London at 12pm on Wednesday 27th April.

Notes on Emerald Publishing and usage during Covid-19  

At present we are living in a difficult and uncertain time around the world, as we face the fight against COVID-19. Now, more than ever, people need quick and easy online access to the information we publish on Emerald Insight and the opportunities to share their research, so we are keen to ensure that all of our users have access to research, even if institutions are closed. To help with any issues, and keep people up to date with new information we launched our Customer Support Portal. 

We have made research on COVID-19, the management of epidemics and pandemics, and supply chain management free for anyone to access and have also made this available with full text and data mining rights to PubMed Central and the World Health Organisation repository. We will continue to make relevant research freely available on this site.
